The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the
meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates
a different meaning:
Garage sales
means all sales known and referred to as garage sales, yard sales, rummage sales or
any other sale of this type by people other than a duly licensed merchant of the city
and shall be conducted only in areas that are zoned and used for residential purposes.
All sales known as garage sales, yard sales, rummage sales or similar type sales are
prohibited in the historical district and central business district. All goods sold
at garage sales, yard sales, rummage sales or similar type sales shall be clothing
or other types of household personal effects, but shall not include any property whether
clothing, furniture or furnishings or jewelry purchased outside of the county or within
the county for the purposes of resale.
